[ Greetings from the Future ] ︎

‘Greetings from the Future’ is a collaborative installation where I and other creatives imagined an absurd but possible future after emerging from the turbulent years of 2020 and 2021.

Being from different courses, and therefore having different creative outcomes, we found a way to keep our work cohesive by branding ourselves under the collective of “F.U.C.C.”

F.U.C.C. or For Ur Collective Clarity is a government task force sent from the unknown future to warn the people of the present day about the future that awaits them. To do so they bring a time capsule which houses an array of items which present the wonky yet concerning future which lies ahead.

I took a lead role in the organisation and direction of the project, particularly with the branding of the group and the decision to keep under a retro-futuristic aesthetic with the theoretical reference of hauntology. My key role in this project lead me to be offered a short internship at Hallmark Cards.

Brief: ‘Wonky’

Hallmark invite you to shift perceptions of the language and material of printed greeting cards. You are tasked to reinvent the tradition of the folded paper message, embracing the language of wonky communication, embracing leftover materials, play and humour.

The unit will require an intensive output within independent research and making and an open attitude to collaboration and trying new ways of working. Your final outcomes will be displayed at an exhibition in HOME MCR.

Coming from a future where text slang has integrated with Standard English and the municipal rules.

This booklet is a comedic parody of the 70/80s Government campaign “Protect and Survive”: Created in an effort to inform the British public of what to do in the event of a nuclear attack.

[ Pixelated Face Masks ]

In response to the rising concern for personal privacy in the wake of new surveillance technology and rise of face mask use with the COVID pandemic, I created pixelated “anti - s urveillance“ face masks as an item from the future.
